Different Presentation software

I have been looking for more Presentation software to use in my blog and I have come up with a few more to add marks to my Technology and Presentation parts of the mark scheme:

  • Emaze - http://www.emaze.com/ - This is a simple Powerpoint software with more impressive templates.

  • Zoho - https://www.zoho.com/docs/online-presentation-tool.html - Another Power point but this time basing it on more animation

  • Present.me - https://present.me/content/ - This is my favourite so far- it mixes slides of work you have written out with a video of you talking about the slides.

  • Focusky - http://focusky.com/ - This is again a Power point based software but with More child friendly animation and Templates

Institution Research

Record label

Universal Republic Records

After looking at many Record labels i have come to the decision that Universal Republic Records was the most suitable for our chosen track. Universal Republic Records is an american record label, Its parent label is Universal Music Group.

Music video budget

Because of the amount of income this institution brings in they would see an investment into this music video a small expenditure. The must expensive aspect to this video would be the cameras because they would have to be very high quality and that would cost a whole lot more. The only other aspect to the music video are the setting and actors witch  would be no worry because the acting participants will be free (The singer) or very cheap friends of the singer. And because of the genre the setting will be outdoors and usually free then.

Production of the video

As the song is known and labeled by the Indie and Folk genres there will be few uses of entropic features .Eg special effects or use of Andrew Goodwin's theory of looking.

Web 2.0

There are, today, more ways than ever for a music video to become popular and shared. Here is a list of many of the ways technology, that our target audience are likely to use, can distribute and further the popularity of our video:
  • The internet
  • Youtube
  • Itunes
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Music Blogs
  • Web 2.0 (Pintrest, Tumblr... ect)
With this research i have learnt that i must:
  • Look how we will show the music video on web 2.0
  • Look at camera work being a big factor of the music video as no special effects
  • Look at the budget of our video

Conclusion

In conclusion Republic Records would be the best producer for my music video as they have space of expenditure in there budget; Plus they have a large backing by very big artists so there is room for possible work and collaboration in aid of promotion of Our own music video.

Choreography

We have looked at a range of music videos from both from the folk genre and from the Indie. There is limited moment to the performer in all of the videos. The generic choreography to this genre is plain walking and looking around.
The most unnatural and planned movement to this genre is spinning. It is mainly use in the crescendo or most elated part of the song. To show gaiety or relief of the singer.

Although very disjointed and macabre this video does include spinning. This is probably the only aspect of this video that we would utilize as we would rather go for the subtle and clam persona of videos by such artists as 'birdy' or 'Gabrielle Aplin'.

The facial expressions to all of these video's are almost dead pan. Infrequently looking distressed or jovial, but for the predominant of all of these videos they are holding a expressionless almost slightly longing face.
When performing to the camera or simply lip syncing the artist seems to be soulful and utterly encompassed what they are singing like the music is intrinsic to them.

Generating ideas using lyrics

Megan Davies - All I Ever Want Is You

I wanna be with you - Holding hands/shot of performer on her own that connotes longing or loneliness.
I wanna crawl into your arms
Sleep under a new moon
Light up the sky with stars - Shot of sky with stars as if romantic setting at night
It’s everything about you
That keeps my body warm
I wanna be with you
I wanna get lost here - Flash back to couple together in woodland looking sweet and romantic
I wanna throw away the map
Escape for a few years
From the godforsaken path
It’s everything about you - Girl and boy together looking into the camera, showing happiness
That dares me to be rash
I wanna get lost here - Girl looking metaphorically lost in her boyfriends arms

I guess I don’t need a lot - back to girl performing to camera lip sinking
Less than I thought
Yeah I don’t need a lot
All I ever want is you
I don’t need a lot
Less than I thought
Yeah I don’t need a lot - Flash back to couple on beach having nice times
All I ever want is you

I wanna be near you
I wanna hold your hand in mine - Couple holding hands in the wood scene again
Natures in a full bloom
It’s a beautiful design - The first time the couple meet in there friends car looking out of the window
When everything about you
Sends shivers up my spine
I wanna be near you

I guess I don’t need a lot - Flash back to couple doing the same actions as 'yeah i don't need a lot' line
Less than I thought
Yeah I don’t need a lot
All I ever want is you - Lip syncing of performer again
I don’t need a lot
Less than I thought
Yeah I don’t need a lot
All I ever want is you

Never has the background paled so fully - Couple having an argument, unrest and unsettled
Never have I been the one to crush
Up ‘til now this life’s been so damn lonely
Just wanna be here with the one I love

Hey hey - shot of lip syncing. graphic match without boy- to with boy. heart break/ loneliness
Hey yeah…

I guess I don’t need a lot
Less than I thought
Yeah I don’t need a lot - performer lip syncing. maybe varied setting (woodland/car)
All I ever want is you
I don’t need a lot
Less than I thought
Yeah I don’t need a lot
All I ever want is you - Shot of boy surprising girl on beach with flowers ( something significant to earlier )

All I ever want is you
All I ever want is you
All I ever want is you
All I ever want
All I ever want is you
All I ever want
All I ever want
All I ever want
All I ever want is you - shot of couple walking away hand in hand ( resolution/ denouement )

Time management post

This is my first time management post. I have been very slack and sporadic with my posts up until this point, but this week i feel i have made a considerable effort to complete the outstanding work and this has brought to my attention the work ethic i need to adorn. so from this point i feel i will be better with updating my blog and working harder to produce high level work.

This week my group have decided on the narrative of our music video and mildly what shots to use and what generic techniques to use considering the generic conventions of our chosen music genre.

Target Audience

The song our group has chosen by Megan Davies has influences from both the Folk and Indie music genres. This information is all we need to start making audience based assumptions.

Basic Information

Age - the age range will be between 18/25

Gender - it will mainly appeal to females but can be enjoyed by both genders

Education - attending university or in full time full time employment

Occupation - low income work during, or just after coming out of, full time education

Annual income - the type of person who will listen to our artist's work will have a low annual income (because they will have just left or will still be in full time education)

Disposable income - as the aforementioned point brought attention to they will not have much income as it is let alone expendable income, so because of this reason they would have no or little disposable income. we have looked into this so as our minimalist approach to our music video will be representative and relatable to our target audience

Demographic

On the demographic scale our target audience is a 'B' ,which means middle management, media representatives, creative personalities and teachers, and 'E' that means Probably unemployed or are students.

The audience are described as 'leading edge' ,with the reasoning of them being creative, in this website that looks as the 'Tribes' of the UK.

http://www.uktribes.com/
With the psychographic theory they are described as People who seek discovery (Explorers) ,as well as people who seek enlightenment and the change within (Reformers).

Lifestyle

  • Part time job
  • Attends festivals
  • Habitual user of internet

The style of our target audience is Indie/hipster, often wearing Denim, shorts, hats, and scarves.

Brand loyalty

Asking artist for permission for the use of her music

We are all very pleased with the outcome as we all did not expect an actual reply from Megan Davies.

Narrative Arc

The five stages of the Narrative Arc:

  • Exposition
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Falling Action
  • Denouement

Applying Narrative Arc to 'Little Talk'

Exposition

  • Men see commit while on fantastical blimp. At 15 seconds they see her, he points and the song says 'Hey'
  • Low key lighting used, changed to high key when woman is seen
  • mis-en-scene used to prove woman is strong figure

Rising Action

  • At 52 seconds the men and woman set off in there blimp on a action packed voyage
  • Black and white.Only the woman is in colour
  • Shoots zip wire into cave. Searching
  • Monster intervenes. Woman fights monster, saves helpless men
  • Continues story. music heightens

Climax

  • At 2:31 men fall into sea, drowning. music slows.
  • There are close up's of the concerned facial expressions
  • Woman saves them from monster,   Music picks up again, louder and faster.

Falling action

  • At 3:32 High key lighting is introduced as the men enter the clouds
  • Animal clad appears - bright as woman
  • Woman shows first sign of emotion (smile)

Denouement

  • At 4:04 The woman takes her place as part of the animal clad (in the position of the jewel in a tiara)
  • It has attributes of the woman's physique.
  • The men are shown on pedestals
  • The bright and elated colours connote happiness
  • Woman found her way home thanks to the men. Plot surprise because the woman seemed to be helping the men all along.
